a week in shade
Last week while having breakfast I went to clean my glasses, and ended up snapping them in half at the bridge.
I've had these glasses for five or six years at that point, so I'm guessing that the years of wear made the bridge of them fragile, and me going to clean them was the last straw.
I thought they would be easy to fix with some super glue so I could still wear them until a pair I ordered online arrived, but I discovered that was not the case…
I tried every glue we had in the house, but none of them worked on the plastic. My partner K brought back some two part glue which did glue the two pieces together, but no matter what position I put them in to dry they would end up being wonky. I tried to gently bend them to correct the wonkiness before the glue fully dried, but that just rebroke them and they wouldn't stick together again, and so I had to give up on a temporary fix.
Issue is I really need my glasses and couldn't go glassless until the new pair arrived. I do have contact lenses for when I go to theme parks, but I can't wear them daily as they dry my eyes out, plus when I'm drawing and doing stuff up close everything is blurry and it's hard to see what I'm doing.
After some rummaging I did eventually find a pair of old prescription glasses to wear around the house. The issue? They were sunglasses! And so I've spent this past week wearing sunglasses while watching TV, doing my art, cooking, and relaxing in bed.
Thankfully my new glasses will be arriving soon. I just hope I don't end up finding everything too bright after spending a week in shades 😆
